Beccs Edinburgh 'Spoons' Tour - Feb 20th-23rd 2004

Day One - Friday - The Beginning..

Lumber on the train

Who ate all the pies?

What big eyes you have!

Spoons

Train takeover

Hands up if you have a spoon!
Beccs Ladies met up at Kings Cross station on Friday morning for a trip up to Edinburgh for a long weekend. Fully equipped each with a spoon and wearing their lovely new tour shirts the ladies excitedly showed off their red and white items to be worn all weekend. Strangely, on the back of their tour shirts Flapper became Flipper for the weekend with Mounty becoming Monty - but why?!

Canadians Lumber and Monty were even more excited than most, not only were they going on their first Beccs Ladies tour but they were travelling by train properly for the first time! In this way, we were only a few miles out of Kings Cross when Kim's new nickname of 'lumber' was awarded for her explanation of trains in Canada.

Great excitement at York when the lucky station was greeted by a frontal flash of sexy bosoms in honour of Espagille - our very own Gillie who was joining us on tour for the weekend after moving north last summer. I'm sure Espa enjoyed the greeting too and she demonstrated her joy at seeing us again by sinking her face into the chocolate muffin that Lightning had just queued the length of the train for.

A much poorer effort with drinking on the journey this year with a 100% effort by some team members but with some seemingly pacing themselves - pacing? on tour? FINE! Perhaps it was something to do with the beer-getters being stuck behind the trolley as it went slowly down the train. Still it producted another fine gem from Stan when she asked if there was another way of getting past the trolley..

It was time for tour missions to be handed out with everyone given an envelope with their action to be carried out on every day of the tour. It was at this point that Chitty excelled herself by having completed hers around 7-8 times in an hour. Other memories of the train involve a French man who was going up to Edinburgh for the rugby - didn't he know that France were playing in Italy?!

Lizzie, aka Tour Virgin got a little confused by the concept of making friends in pubs and so made friends with a nice lad called Ben on the train and got her photo taken with him. Also some confusion over if working in the pharmaceutical industry could be called drug dealing...and also a scary moment for Ben when Sniff got her police docs out!

Amazing how four and a half hours flies by on the trains and in no time at all we were pulling into Edinburgh station to be greeted by a rather happy (or was that drunk?) Foxy who was waiting for us in the hostel bar (times are hard eh?).
