Beccs Ladies met up at Paddington on Friday morning for a trip out to Cardiff for their first playing tour. All fully equipped with a musical instrument to make heavenly music and a picture of their GOD around their neck the ladies were soon kitted up in their 2005 tour shirts. After a quick trip to get some divine nectar for the journey the ladies were soon off, well almost soon off if it hadn't been for Britney disappearing at the crucial moment. A worrying few minutes passed with her appearing around 20 seconds before the whistle blew for the train, allowing a leisurely 5 seconds for us to board the train and find our seats.
The train company must have seen Beccs Ladies on tour before as they sensibly gave us seats in the quiet carriage.
Did you know that in the quiet carriage there is a ban on recorder playing as well as mobile phone use? (Well perhaps there should be!!)
With the journey now underway it was time to think of reasons to go to heaven for each fallen angel. With this task complete Fingers could devote time to teaching Bugs to play three blind mice on a plastic trumpet, all together now, "Green, Pink, Blue. Green, Pink, Blue. Red, Orange, Yellow. Red, Orange, Yellow."
Things became slighty scary when Lightning kept transporting us back to medieval England with 'Greensleeves' and Happy gave a fine display of playing 'Three blind mice' without music - it became clear that having recorders on tour could be a problem. We hadn't even seen Vonnie and her recorder at this point so little did we know what was to come!
In just a short few hours we were in Cardiff and soon exploring Backpackers hostel which was home for the weekend. After unpacking a bit and doing important things like laying out pyjamas carefully on the bed it was time to go and explore Cardiff!
This afternoon becomes blurry, possibly due to the wee drink on the train and probably due to the wee drinks in numerous pubs afterwards.
A few things stand out - Bangor - how many people spoke to the men from Bangor? For those not in the know, Bangor is in North Wales as opposed to the Bangor in France..you know who you are! If anyone from Bangor rugby ever reads this report please drop us a line - I'm sure you had a ladies team and we'd love to hear from you!
