Dublin 'Champions' Tour - March 2003

Day Two - Sunday..

Ready for breakfast!

we're gonna sing one more than you..

Up for the Cup!

Beccs capture a leprachaun!

Before the match..

England get the Grand Slam!

Out come the red pants!

Who's this man?

The red knickers!

Chitty's Scrum!
After a dodgy first thing but a good Irish fry-up to settle the nerves, Beccs ladies assembled to take on the Irish for the day. A received text-message revealed that Beccs Ladies had appeared in the Sunday Telegraph (the National Press!) in an article by Rupert Bates.

Heading off down to Lansdowne Road to find a pub, the girls ended up at Murrays where they braved the wind outside for a while before settling down in the pub to watch the match.

Doing endless good for English-Irish relations, the girls sang their heads off mostly throughout and created a great atmosphere in the pub as well as making endless new friends! Quote of the day was something along the lines of 'is that their Queen?'..

With a superb England Grand Slam, everyone was in good spirits and the action continued outside afterwards including a rather nice Australian man and a fat English man who insisted on showing us his hairy ass.

Foxy and a man.. Foxy and some more men! A good crowd outside....

Heading back into town we encountered a group from Sunderland wearing furry hats - an invitation to be stolen, so a big game of rugby to steal the hats ensued before jumping into taxi's to get back to the centre. After a quick rumble in Temple Bar with a couple of pikeys, the ladies went onto the Bridge Bar in town where a party was in full swing.

Minutes turned into hours with various rugby teams and people dancing and messing about in the pub. Who were the Vikings? And what the heck was that 'Cheeky Vimto' stuff we were drinking?

Carnage.. Carnage.. Put One Pint down.. MM and who?

Various versions of the evening remain including a full-on rugby match along the cobbles of Temple Bar with rucks and mauls galore and Lardina side-stepping a lamp-post to score!

Others reported going to a hotel on the outskirts of Dublin but details are sketchy. Others returned in the early hours with a superb Smirnoff ice-bucket 'steal' and reports of a Jason Leonard lookalike.

The general talk around town was that Beccs are the best-looking female rugby team that everyone had ever seen. All in all a very good day and I'm sure none of this was due to alcohol..

Beccs Ladies make the National Press

Sunday Telegraph March 30th 2003

After making friends with a photographer on Saturday morning, Beccs were delighted to find they'd made it into the Sunday Telegraph the next day.

Paddy was so pleased she wore her knickers outside her trousers with excitement..

I've got a lot of time for that idea..
