9th Oct 2005 - Beccs lose 41-0 away to Footscray
Beccs Ladies continued their league campain this Sunday with a slightly disppointing performance away to Footscray. On a hot and sunny day, Beccehamian Ladies put in a good forward performance although they were slow out of the blocks allowing Footscray to score two tries in the first ten minutes.
Beccs dug in deep and began to put some good defence together, holding Footscray up over the line a couple of times. The backs began to run the ball around a bit more but the Footscray defence were quickly up from the breakdowns causing problems for the backline.
In the second half, despite being on the losing side of the score, Beccs began to put in some good rucking with the forwards putting some aggression into their hits. This gave Beccs much more ball and disrupted the Footscray line. However it wasn't to be Beccs day as they just couldn't quite break through for a try and the game ended 41-0 in favour of the home team.
A special mention to Judith Branch playing her first game for Beccehamians and putting in some good first tackles and a great performance from flanker Amanda Edwards who retired last season but was persuaded back for one more match.
Thanks to Footscray for a great game and we wish them good luck for the rest of the season.
Our next League match is AWAY to Beckenham on Sunday 30th October.
