7th December 2008 - Beccs Ladies lose 0-20 at home to Tonbridge
Some photos of the game can be seen here >>
In extremely icy conditions with frozen grass and biting winds, Beccs Ladies played a fantastic game of rugby which didn't really reflect the losing scoreline. Forced to play with uncontested scrums, Beccs Ladies were undeterred and went out with heads held high to play a good level of rugby.
The icy conditions made playing rather painful with many cut and grazed knees from hitting the icy grass. This didn't stop Beccs who powered out in attack and defence.
Forward of the match was flanker Liz D'Angelo who had an awesome game both with hard tackling and being alert to drop into the defensive line.
Back of the match was centre Charlie Emiss who showed that the score wasn't going to get to her with some hard tackles and and some great runs into the opposition half.
The team voted centre Jay Sperry as their Player's players as she spent the game getting into the oppositions face and messing things up for them, as well as some amazing long runs down the pitch and first-up tackles.
Special mentions also to wing Helen Pooley who put in some amazing tackles and to lock Sarah Abbott who played a stormer after coming back from illness. Scrum-half Claire Oldham appeared all over the pitch showing her dedication to the team whilst Number 8, Amy Pugh, the new Vice Captain showed her worth with another solid game.
Well done to the whole Beccs team who showed how rugby should be played and despite the loss still had their heads held high at the final whistle.
Beccs Ladies next match takes place on Sunday 11th January away to Aylesford 2nds - please come and support us!
