18th April 2004 - Beccs lose 5-10 at home to Blackheath II
Beccs ladies had a surprise opportunity to play a full 15-aside game of rugby this weekend with Blackheath II pulling a full side out of the bag at the last minute.
Due to injuries and sickness Beccs ladies were struggling for a backline which saw flanker Lara Fisher playing a solid game on the wing and No.8 Kim Reiter in her last game for Beccs before returning to Canada, confidently playing fullback. Flanker Steph Cleough was also playing in the centre for the second time this season as Vonnie Baxter made a move from hooker to flanker.
Everyone had a great game with the scores level for most of the match. Sally Gordon had her first run out for Beccs ladies earlier that expected and making a good first appearance with some excellent tackling. Beccs only try of the match was scored by speedy winger Wendy Stevens.
The ladies match saw the only two hours of rain in an otherwise sunny weekend so a big thank-you to all the supporters who stuck it out.
A drink up with Blackheath in the club house after paved the way for an enjoyable night to wish Kim farewell and good luck in the future - keep in touch Kim!
Beccs ladies next game is the last of the season, away to Ashford in Division 3 SE-E on Sunday 2nd May.
