21st March 2004 - Beccs lose 36-10 away to Sidcup
Beccehamian Ladies lost out today in a tough match away to local team Sidcup. With it being mothers day, both teams were unable to field a full side with a number of ladies unavailable. Using Div 3 rules, the match was therefore played 12-aside.
Beccs found it tough up front and were at a disadvantage after 10 minutes when Josie Barnard went off with a chipped shoulder bone. Sidcup responded and made the most of their player overlap until half-time when they dropped a player to equal up numbers again.
This was a welcome return to rugby for flying winger Wendy Stevens after breaking a bone in her foot earlier in the season along with an extended trip down under to Australia. Wendy was soon showing her pace and got back in gear with two well-worked tries.
With the weakened team it was not to be Beccs day and Sidcup were able to work their way through their forwards with some good interplay to score 36 points.
Thanks to Sidcup for rearranging this fixture and the best of luck for the rest of the season.
Beccs ladies next game is away to Thanet Wanderers in Division 3 SE-E on Sunday 4th April.
