25th Jan 2004 - Beccs win 31-0 at home to Canterbury in Div 3 SE-E.
Beccs Ladies had a good win this weekend beating Canterbury 31-0 at home in Division 3 SE-E. It was a complete team performance from Beccs with great support play moving the ball smoothly between forwards and backs.
Scrum-half Steph Godsland played a big part in distributing the ball well around the pitch and the backs were able to organise themselves well to run some good lines. The forwards showed superb rucking skills to retain and obtain possession for the backs to run off and first to take advantage was Captain Alex Tyson leading from the front as always to run in to score and convert. Fly-half Carolyn Waugh was next to follow with a trademark run in from half-way.
After half-time, Beccs began to enjoy themselves and Canadian Kim Reiter playing her first game at No.8 for Beccs had a fantastic game bouncing off tackles and joining in the backline with some intelligent running. Scrummaging went well with the pack keeping things tight and winning several against the head. Canterbury defended well and put in a good performance but were not able to beat the pace of Alex Tyson who ran in three more tries in the second half to demonstrate why she is top of our try-scoring and points table this season!
Also well worth a mention was another new Beccehamian, Liz Wilson playing her first game at wing and making loads of great tackles. All in all a great team performance with everyone working together and supporting one another.
Beccs ladies next game is away to Sidcup in Division 3 SE-E on Sunday 8th February.
