27th April 2003 - Beccs host friendly Southern League Tournament
Beccehamian Ladies hosted a fun day for the teams of the Southern League this Sunday at Sparrow's Den. The Southern League is a friendly competition organised by Aylesford Ladies rugby team which provides a number of local clubs with friendlies around the competitive league structure.
Unfortunately at the last minute Ashford were unable to take part which left Aylesford, Beckenham and Beccehamians taking part on the day. Instead of having a tournament the ladies therefore decided to create one team from the Beckenham and Beccehamian ladies teams - renamed 'Beccs' or 'Becks' and they took on the Aylesford team.
This was a great opportunity to try out some new players, with Beccehamians Michelle making a great debut at hooker. There were also some brand new positions being played by other more experience players in what was a fun match after a long and competitive season. The match was played in great spirit with Becks having a few comedy moments having never played as a team before. Still the ladies dug in deep and had a very enjoyable game.
The game was won by Aylesford ladies but a good day was had by all.
